Which do you prefer?

Silver

Gold

Both versions made using blender which is free mainly because its open source.

Nice work!! In real ife, I'd prefer silver goblets to gold ones, but here I prefer the gold because they stand out better against the background.

Thanks for the feedback WW. You are right about the Gold standing out more. Hopefully both graphics will see well on Shutterstock.

Lovely work! I too prefer the gold ones, they are far more effective at showing all the wonderful reflections and highlights. The silver ones looked washed out and insipid in comparison.

As they are I prefer the gold but it may be worth trying the silver on a different coloured background (e.g. gold) and with the ambient lighting lowered and the specular lighting raised (silver should be more definitely shiny than gold).

That's an excellent point! You are right about changing the lighting settings / atmosphere etc. Yesterday I did a tutorial on lighting the above goblet and the silver version looked much much better than the gold!

Very nice, also using some HDRI in the lights will make the image even better.

Cool tip. Now I just need to figure out where the HDI setting is! Right after I learn how to do a whole lot of other stuff.

I think learning this application is going to take a while.
